Welcome to Ames High School!

Originally cited in 1983 by the United States Department of Education as an ”exemplary school,“ Ames High School was one of 82 charter high schools in the nation honored by the Department of Education. In 1989 in its Recognition of Excellence, the Department of Education again honored the high school. Ames High has been identified by various business periodicals as being among the top high schools in the nation.

The home of the Little Cyclones, Ames High offers a well-rounded, comprehensive continuum of academics, athletics, arts, and activities to its students. There is an expectation of excellence in everything we do, living up to our motto “Ames Hi Aims High.”
